In Canada, over the last decade, an abundance of data and research findings support the demand to reduce absenteeism, increase productivity and enhance opportunities for recruitment and retention. Work-life research points to balance work and personal life policy as good for business. The study also points to problems recruiting and retaining the best talent in an increasingly competitive labor market that is driving workplace change, which often leads to the demands of labor for work and family responsibilities. These factors are now motivating employers to integrate the work-life balance measures in their business strategy. Facilitate work-life balance is not corporate social work. This is extremely important that it makes business sense.
In the U.S., the concept of work-life balance so much in advance, they even have institutions like family and the work of the Institute (FWI). FWI is dedicated to providing objective information on work and family issues and problems faced by workers and employers to make informed decisions in government, business, community and family concerns groups. To this end, FWI conducts its own research, and supports the field work and personal life through the study researchers together, share information and collaborate on projects. In addition, there are state and public interest groups focusing on different aspects of work and personal life.
